I just discovered candy stores that sell retro candy!
So if you are having an old fashioned Halloween party (or you are just craving some retro candy) I have the links where you can find it.
Candy Crate offers you the option of shopping by the decade 1940s-90s- I was an 80s child so that's the first decade I hit. Nerds, Now and Laters, Candy Cigarettes, Bottle Caps, Pixy Stix, Spree Original....and a Halloween must have Wax fangs. Next I was curious to see what was popular in the 1940s- bubble gum cigars, licorice wheels, licorice pipes, black taffy and more.
Groovy Candies also has a great selection of retro candy but there selling point is that they also have retro toys like the original slinky, sea monkeys, kaleidoscopes, Gumby, Spirograph and so much more. Perfect treats for a retro party.
Old Time Candy also has candy by the decade- all the way back to pre 1920s and 1920s - so if you have a Great Gatsby or Roaring 20s Party this is the candy store you want to visit. I had no idea Altoids and Butterfinger had been around so long.
Candy Warehouse is another online store full of retro sweets. They offer classic candy gift boxes featuring popular candies of the decade. Of course I went straight to the 80s box. They also have boxes for the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 90s. I came across decade candy gift totes as well.
Description from their site for the 80s Box:
"1980's You were a master of the Thriller dance and wore leggings daily; it’s time to revisit the bangin’ decade of the 1980’s. The pictures prove you teased your hair and wore friendship bracelets. Embrace it and enjoy it with the candy that accompanied you through the Reagan years.
Includes: Atomic Fireball, Bubble Tape, Caramel Piece, Flavored Tootsie Rolls, Jawbreaker, Laffy Taffy, Licorice Stick, Pixy Stix, Ring Pop, Runts, Smarties, Starburst, Sweetarts and Tootsie Rolls.
Scrolling through these sites has literally made me feel like a kid in candy store. Talk about a trip back in time. I love it. I will be taking some time to really dig through these stores to find the perfect goodies for Retro Party Themes and simply for finding nostalgic candies I can't find in stores. I have to show these to my mom, she's going to love adore the huge selection of hard candies.
