The Lost Boys is one of my favorite vampire movies.
It's a cult classic known for its 80s style and dark humor.
Here's a quick guide to help you create a fang-tastic Lost Boys-themed party with ideas for games, activities, food, drinks, costumes, and decorations.
Decorations:
1. Vampire Lair: Set the mood with a gothic ambiance. Use black and red as the primary colors for your decorations. Hang faux cobwebs, dark curtains, and vampire-inspired artwork.
2. Create a sign that says "Welcome to Santa Carla," the fictional town in the movie, and place it at the entrance of your party area.
3. Coffin Cooler: Use a large coffin-shaped cooler filled with ice to keep drinks cold. Decorate it with Goth style to give it a vampire touch.
4. Bat Decorations: Hang bat cutouts from the ceiling or walls to add to the vampire aesthetic.
5. Movie Posters and Stills: Display movie posters or stills from The Lost Boys around the party area to set the scene.
Costumes:
1. You or your guests could dress up as Sam, Michael, Lucy or Grandpa. Tim Cappello the sax man is another fun costume idea.
2. Encourage guests to dress up as David, Star, Laddie, Marko, Dwayne, Max or any of the other vampires They can wear leather jackets, bandanas, ripped jeans, and fake vampire fangs - don't forget the big 80s hair and mullets.
3. Guests can also dress up the vampire-hunting Frog brothers and wear jeans, boots, bandanas, and carry wooden stakes or crossbow props.
Games and Activities:
1. Vampire Trivia: Test your guests' knowledge of The Lost Boys with a vampire-themed trivia game. Prepare questions about the movie's plot, characters, and memorable scenes.
2. Vampire Fang Decorating: Provide fake vampire fangs and art supplies for guests to decorate their fangs with glitter, paint, or small jewels.
3. "Vampire Hunt" Scavenger Hunt: Set up a scavenger hunt where guests search for hidden vampire-themed items, such as plastic bats or small bottles of "holy water."
4. Vampire Karaoke: Set up a karaoke station with a selection of 80s songs and vampire-inspired tunes. Encourage guests to perform their favorite songs with a vampiric twist.
5. Horror Movie Screening: Set up a cozy area with cushions and blankets for guests to watch a screening of The Lost Boys or other classic horror movies.
Food and Drinks:
1. "Blood Bag" Refreshments: Serve red-colored drinks in IV bags or blood bag-style pouches. Label them as "Vampire's Delight" or "Blood of the Innocent."
2. "Garlic-Free Zone" Snacks: Offer an array of snacks that are garlic-free to avoid vampires. This can include popcorn, pretzels, chips, and Halloween-themed finger foods.
3. "Steak" Bites: Serve bite-sized steak skewers or sliders as a nod to the vampire hunters' preference for steak over garlic.
4. "Vampire Kiss" Cupcakes: Decorate cupcakes with red icing and place a chocolate kiss candy on top to resemble vampire kisses.
Be sure to have The Lost Boys soundtrack playing for the perfect ambiance. A few of my favorite songs from the movie are People Are Strange by Echo & the Bunnymen, Cry Little Sister by Gerard McMahon, and I Still Believe by Tim Cappello.
