Deleted Sections from the book Haunted Flint - Spencer House of Mortuary #HauntedFlint

Our History Press editor did not want too many first person accounts or ghost hunting details in the book so we have a couple buildings that we had to delete info from their chapters.

I previously shared details about Whaley House, next up is the Spencer House.

Spencer House of Mortuary

On May 14th, 2016 the Haunt Investigators of Michigan did a paranormal investigation at Spencer House. It was a dreary, cold and rainy night when Joe had the chance to take part in their investigation.

The night started off a little slow and Joe was ready to give up hope just a half hour into the investigation when a shadowy figure appeared on a heat sensor set up in a small narrow hallway upstairs.

The figure stuck his head and half of his body in the doorway and waited to be noticed. Once he was seen, he quickly disappeared.

They followed him down the hallway and spotted him again at the top of the stairs, poof he disappeared again.

They continued searching for him.  When he appeared the third time he was ready to play.

The investigators interacted with him discovering his name was George. To confirm they asked if his name was George. He responded with Kepler.

The investigators continued questioning him and discovered that Rose was with him. Things got silent and the investigators and ghost seemed to be at a standoff. Finally the investigators asked another question that he responded to, they asked if he cared that the house was being fixed up. His response - the roof. The roof of Spencer House was in desperate need of replacing.

After that the ghost told everyone he was bored and vanished into the attic.

Later on that evening the group encountered two more spirits downstairs. One of the two spirits was a child that liked to dance. When the dancing child spirit stopped dancing the team praised the child’s good dance moves and asked him to dance for them again. And he did.

The team tried questioning the child spirit. They asked the child’s name, his response was paranormal. They then asked if the child said that because they were paranormal investigators and the response was yeah.

After a little more dancing an adult spirit took the child’s hand and they both disappeared.

The next day Joe researched George Kepler. He found two that lived in Flint during the 1930’s. One of them lived three blocks over on Sixth Avenue. Factory workers rented and moved from house to house quite often. George could have possibly lived in one of the two rental units of the house at some point but did he die there, too?

Did these spirits get left behind after their funerals during the years the house was a mortuary or did something else happen that caused their spirits to hang around this old house?
